Nakuru, Kenya – February 19 – The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC), in partnership with the Media Council of Kenya, held an engagement with journalists and content creators in Nakuru and Eldoret to sensitize media professionals on Kenya’s data protection framework and the role of ODPC in regulating the processing of personal data.
The session highlighted the importance of responsible reporting and content creation in the digital age, emphasizing the need for media practitioners to understand how personal data should be handled and protected. Participants were also introduced to ODPC’s regulatory frameworks and guidelines aimed at supporting compliance within media operations.
The engagement provided a platform for dialogue on how journalists can responsibly report on issues involving personal information while safeguarding the privacy rights of individuals. It also offered practical insights into best practices for handling personal data in journalistic work.
